INTRODUCTION
Ibn Sina Medical College named after Ibn Sina, the great Philosopher, Physician & Medical Scientist is a non- profitable institution of Ibn Sina Trust established in the year 1995 and approved by the Govt. of the peoples' republic of Bangladesh in the year 2005.
To uphold & maintain the reputation of Ibn Sina Trust in the field of higher education & to remain in the forefront of health care services the Trustee Board established Ibn Sina Medical College with a vision to develop it as a model Institute, so as to demonstrate a high standard of under graduate education in Medicine to crater the needs of the country.
GOALS & OBJECTIVES
The goal of the college is to create LEADERS of medical profession, who are competent, committed, caring and willing to serve the community.
The College is to provide an excellent broad based education with a focus on professional development for the students to equip them with knowledge, skill & attitude necessary not only to address the priority health problems of the community but also to acquire a firm basis for future training and studies.

THE CAMPUS
The campus of the college is located at 1/1-B, Kallyanpur, Mirpur, Dhaka in the heart of Dhaka city in a quiet & serene environment. It has an excellent communication links with all Parts of Dhaka city & from outside Dhaka.
The campus at Kallyanpur houses the Administrative block & adequately equipped basic science departments namely the departments of Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Community Medicine and the departments are all well equipped & furnished, to accommodate Class rooms. Dissection hall, Laboratories and Museum. Lecture Galleries are equipped with audio-visual equipments including multimedia set up. Galleries, Library and Dissection rooms are fully air-conditioned to create an environment conducive to health. Para Clinical, Clinical Classes are being held at Ibn Sina Hospital Campus in Dhanmondi. 3rd year, students are regularly attending Ward duties. Departmental Professors, Registrars are engaged in bed side teaching in Ibn Sina Hospital. It has a rich library and contains necessary latest edition of books & journals.
ACADEMIC BUILDING
Construction work of a 14 storied permanent academic building has been started & work is going on in full swing. By December 2007 basement & ground floor construction will be completed & we hope to conduct the 1st professional MBBS examination scheduled to be held on 1st January 2008 in the newly constructed building, Insha-Allah. By the end of July 2008 most of the departments will be shifted in the new academic building.
The present academic building will then temporarily house the Out patient department, different Wards & Operation theaters & will serve the purpose of the teaching Hospital. Construction of 500 bed permanent hospital building with all modern technology & amenities, Student dormitories & other facilities is under process.
FIRST PROFESSIONAL MBBS EXAMINATION JANUARY 2007
Result of 1st Batch students of ISMC who appeared in 1st Prof. M.B.B.S examination in January ’07 under the University of Dhaka at Ibn Sina Medical College Centre is highly satisfactory & 2 students obtained honours in Anatomy & Biochemistry.
COURSE OFFERED & AFFILIATION
The college, is affiliated with the University of Dhaka and offers 5 years MBBS Course as approved by BM&DC leading to MBBS degree of the University of Dhaka. The college has been approved & accorded permission by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt of the people's Republic of Bangladesh.
ADMISSION PROFILE
Admission shall be on merit and shall follow the same criteria as prescribed by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council. Applications are invited for admission to first year MBBS class (Fourth Batch) for the session 2007-2008.
ELIGIBILITY
a) The applicant shall be a Bangladeshi Citizen
b) Passed SSC or equivalent examination in 2005 or 2004; and HSC or equivalent in 2007 or 2006 with physics, Chemistry and Biology.
c) Must have a minimum combined GPA of 8.0, an individual minimum GPA of 3.5 and minimum GPA of 3.0 in Biology at HSC.
d) O and A level examination candidates should submit equivalence certificate from Directorate General of Health Services, Govt. of Bangladesh along with the application.

SELECTION OF CANDIDATES
Selection will be absolutely on merit, based on scores of
(SSC GPA × 8) + (HSC GPA × 12) = 100
Admission Test = 100
Total = 200
Written Admission Test will be of one hour’s duration with MCQs on Biology (30%), Chemistry (25%), Physics (20%), English (15%) and General Knowledge (10%). Result of written examination will be published on merit basis with a waiting list followed by:
Medical Test: Candidates qualified in the Written test will be examined by a board of medical specialists of the Ibn Sina Medical College Hospital. Candidates found unfit will be debarred from admission.

FIVE YEARS MBBS COURSE
Academic course
Ibn Sina Medical College offers 5 years MBBS course approved by the Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council, leading to MBBS degree of the University of Dhaka, and one year internship at Ibn Sina Medical College Hospital. The academic session shall be from July to June each year.
